Obituary for Ruth Faircloth Hulon

Mrs. Ruth Faircloth Hulon, 93, of Godwin, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Autumn Care of Raeford.  Mrs. Hulon was born March 9, 1925 in Cumberland County to the late Amos Herbert and Virginia Mintz Faircloth.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey R. Hulon and a daughter, Brenda Hulon Wall.

Mrs. Hulon was a homemaker and mother for 75 years. There was hardly anything she would not tackle, from homebuilding to well drilling.  Together, with husband, Harvey, they built two houses and dug countless water wells. Mrs. Hulon upholstered furniture, helped in landscaping, and until about age 85, worked in the garden.  She also canned and preserved food for the family.

Mrs. Hulon was a little woman, but work she did! She made clothing for her family and meals that always pleased. Mrs. Hulon crocheted sweaters, hats, dolls, and doll clothes.  She was a lady of many talents. Many have dolls, clothing, quilting and other projects, handmade and given away by her. She was beyond generous.  She loved her family to the very end, and loved guests, the more the merrier.

Mrs. Hulon is survived by a son, Boyd “Butch” Hulon of Godwin; daughters, Patricia S. “Pat” Scull, and Betty “BJ” LaBombard of Raeford; eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 30th at 3:00 p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Arrangements by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home of Dunn.
