Obituary for Mr. Lenzy Peairn Stephenson

Mr. Lenzy Peairn Stephenson, 97, formerly of Angier, died Monday morning, September 18, 2017 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Benson. Mr. Stephenson was born June 9, 1920, in Johnston County to the late James and Lena Stewart Stephenson. He was predeceased by his wife, Hilda Faye Stephenson; brothers, Glenn, Millard, Wilburn, Lavander, and Marvin Stephenson, and a sister, Ava Stephenson Young.Mr. Stephenson was a lifelong farmer, until his retirement in 1997. He also worked as a carpenter and helped build Sharon Harris Nuclear Power Plant during the 1970s and early 80s. He loved dancing and was a member of the McDonalds Coffee Club in Benson. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church 2458 County Line Road, Angier, NC 27501 with Tom Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Mr. Stephenson is survived by his son, Mitchell Stephenson and wife Joan of Dunn; daughters, Janet Dunn and husband Sherwood of Garner, Sonia Baker of Raleigh; grandchildren, Sherry Seabock and husband Mike, Jennifer Vinson, Marsha Stephenson and husband Clay, Christy West and husband Scott, Amanda Stephenson, and Jennifer Baker; and nine great-grandchildren.Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church and other times at the home of Mitchell and Joan Stephenson, 900 Fairground Rd., Dunn, NC 28334.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be in Mr. Stephensons, memory to Prevent Blindness of NC, 4011 WestChase Blvd., Suite 225, Raleigh, NC 27606-3978, or online at nc.preventblindness.org.Arrangements by Skinner and Smith Funeral Home of Dunn.
