Obituary for Lawerence Edgar Collins

Mr. Lawerence Edgar Collins, 91, of Dunn died Thursday morning at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born in Vernon, AL, on November 27, 1926 to the late Lester and Ludella Collins. He was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Collins, a brother, Leonard Collins and a granddaughter, Dana Collins. 

Lawerence served in the U.S. Army during WWII, Korea and Vietnam until retiring in 1975. He was a member of Palmyra Lodge 147, Ft. Bragg Lodge 667, a Scottish Rite 32 degree Mason, New Bern Sudan Shrine, International Royal Order of Jesters, a member of Dunn Shrine Club and Cumberland County Shrine Club where he was very involved with the Hillbilly Unit. He was also a member American Legion Post 59 and the American Military Society. 

A Masonic service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sandhills Veterans Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Eneare W. Collins of Dunn, two sons, Glyn Collins and wife Jana of Sanford, Douglas Collins and wife Ellen of Lewisville, a sister; Mary Frances Perkins and husband Doc of Caledonia, MS, nine grandchildren; Michael and Wilson Collins, Kenneth Collins and wife Tabitha, Amy Dragotta and husband Christopher, David Collins, Katie Collins, Nancy Collins, Christopher  Collins, and Brian Stalder and wife Susan, ten great grandchildren; Derrick and McKenzie Collins, Cole, Eli and Ella Dragotta, Clay Levasseur and Ethan Collins, Abby, Daniel and Jonathan Stalder.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 to 11a.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.
