Obituary for Kristin Taylor Pope

Miss Kristin Taylor Pope, 27, of Clinton, gained her angel wings on Thursday, April 18, 2019. Taylor was born October 4, 1991 in Wake County, NC. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ronald “Ronnie” Earl Lucas, Sr. and paternal grandfather, Jimmie Ray Pope, Sr.

At the age of thirteen, her family moved to Africa to become missionaries for the IPHC. She was home-schooled by her mother all through her elementary years but attended a private school during her high school years in Africa.

Taylor was diagnosed with diabetes when only three years old but the disease never kept her from being involved in all kinds of sports. She was also very talented musically. Along with her parents, Taylor was much involved in church work in Africa. She assisted her parents in worship services by leading the singing and praying around the altar. She really enjoyed working with her father in giving medical help to hundreds of African people.

She spent 5 good years in Africa growing up and helping her parents. These years served to point her toward a ministry of helping others. Once back home in the USA she became involved as a caregiver to autistic children, some in her own family, through a company called “Kaleo”. All her life she had a special love for children and elderly people. She enrolled at Campbell University with the goal of becoming an Endocrinologists. Though she never attained this goal, because of her medical condition, it never stopped her in her efforts to help others.

Taylor is survived by her mother and stepfather, Angelia “Angie” Lucas Underwood and Aldrick Underwood; father, Jimmie Ray Pope, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Brenda L. Clark and her husband Rev. Wiley Clark; paternal grandmother, Sandra U. Pope; siblings, Gabriel Austin Pope, Logan Daniel Pope, MaKayla Lindsey Pope, Alex Benjamin Pope, and MaKena Ruth Pope; step-siblings, Alana Symone Underwood and Tristen Amari Underwood; uncle and aunt, Ron and Keisha Lucas; cousins, Brittany and Trey Lucas. She is also survived many special friends who have been like family through the years and a host of other family members and friends here and around the world.

A private service will be held for the family.
