Obituary for John "J.B." Ballard Darroch

Mr. John “J.B.” Darroch, 78 of Lillington, died Monday July 30, 2018 at his home. He was born April 16, 1940 in Harnett County to the late Enoch and Ethel Bass Darroch. Mr. Darroch was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Juanita Darroch; a son, Tony Darroch; grandson, Trey Potter; granddaughter Angela West; four brothers and three sisters. 

Mr. Darroch graduated from Central Carolina Technical College in 1982 as a CNA. He worked at Good Hope Hospital and Charles Parrish Nursing Home. He was a lifelong resident of Harnett County.  Mr. Darroch loved to attend church and fellowship every chance he could. He loved his family, friends, singing and playing his guitar. Mr. Darroch said “I was a free hearted person and willing to help other people. I loved all my family and friends. I wish my relationship with my children would have been better, but I learned to accept it for what it was and live with it.” 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Flatwoods Community Baptist Church, 154 Flatwoods Lane, Lillington, NC 27546. 

Mr. Darroch is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kay Turlington Darroch; son, Ronnie Darroch; daughters, Debbie Cox, Rhonda Potter (Bobby), Ramona Wells, Michelle Parker (Greg), Hope Faircloth; sister-in-law, Julia Darroch; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and his loyal companion Benji. 

The family will received friends from 2-3 p.m. at the church prior to the memorial service. 

The family has requested no flowers. Memorials may be made to Skinner & Smith Funeral Home to offset funeral expenses.
