Obituary for James Marshall "Jimmy" Hinson

Mr. James Marshall “Jimmy” Hinson, Sr. 83, of Dunn died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehab in Benson. Jimmy was born November 22, 1934 in Sampson County, son of the late Harvey Thomas and Vada Lou Williford Hinson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Gene Hinson; and great grandchild, Abbygayle Harant-Norris. 

Jimmy was a 1953 graduate of Plain View High School, retired from the Dunn Fire Department and a member of the First Baptist Church of Dunn. He had worked for Godwin Building Supply in Dunn, Raynor Accounting in Erwin and The Hardwood Man in Angier. Jimmy loved sports and had attended many sporting events in the Dunn area during his life. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday June 8, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Dunn with Dr. Len Keever officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. 

Jimmy is survived by special friend, Liz Lee of Raleigh; his son, James Marshall Hinson, Jr. and wife Patricia of Dunn; daughter, Dianne Turpin and husband Wayne of Dunn; brother, David Hinson of Raleigh; sister, Margie Tart of Dunn; grandchildren, Kevin Hinson (Jessica), Dustin Hinson (Ashley), April Stone (Donald), Pamela Tucker, Magan Ellis (Devine), Rhett Sullivan, April Turpin (Sara), Tommy Turpin (Nina); and twenty-one great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn.
