Obituary for Elsie Gertrude Avery

Mrs. Elsie Gertrude Avery, 95, of Dunn, died Thursday evening, October 11, 2018. Mrs. Avery was born in Harnett County on January 4, 1923 to the late John Henry and Myrtle Irene Murray Parker. Mrs. Avery was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William David Avery. 

Mrs. Avery never met a stranger, and adopted and loved everyone she met.

A funeral service will be held Monday, October 15, 2018, at 11 a. m. at Prospect FWB Church with Rev. Billy Keith & Rev. Connie Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Mrs. Avery is survived by her sons, Bill Avery & wife Phyllis, Danny Avery, and David Avery & wife Donna; sister, Bertha Evelyn Turner; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and  five great, great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn and other times at the home of Bill & Phyllis Avery in Coats.

Memorials may be made to Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, 873 Prospect Church Rd., Dunn, NC 28334.
