Obituary for Billie Wood Sawyer

Mrs. Billie Wood Sawyer, 84, of Erwin died Tuesday evening January 9, 2018 at Transitions HospiceCare in Raleigh.

Mrs. Sawyer was born October 24, 1933 in Harnett County daughter of the late Mack L. and Lura Johnson Wood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, H.A. Sawyer; sisters, Hortense Parker and husband Hugh, Weece Duffy and husband Leroy; brothers, Gene Wood and wife Doris, Mack Wood and wife Ellie; and brother-in-law, T.H. McLeod.

Mrs. Sawyer was retired from Campbell University where she had worked for thirty-seven years. She was a longtime member of Prospect Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Ty Sawyer and wife Donna of Dunn, NC,  Jeff Sawyer of  Kirkland, Washington; daughters, Deborah Cook and husband Charles of Conover, NC,  Katherine Bryant and husband Chuck of Cary, NC, Lisa Hierman and husband Todd of Cary, NC; sister, Janice McLeod of Buies Creek, NC; and nine grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.

Flowers are welcome however memorials may be made to Transitions HospiceCare 200 Hospice Circle Raleigh, N.C. 27607
