Obituary for Benjamin M. "Morry" Denning

Mr. Benjamin Morrison “Morry” Denning, 61, of Dunn died Monday evening July 2, 2018 after a long battle with dementia.

Morry was born August 29, 1956 in Harnett County, son of the late Granville Morrison “Shamrock” and Margaret Beasley “Peggy” Denning. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Jackie Pascariella.

Morry was a 1975 graduate of Dunn High School, a graduate of Central Carolina Community College and the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg. He retired from the Dunn Police Department in 2008 and served thirty-two years in Law Enforcement. He was a lifelong member of Hood Memorial Christian Church, a member of the Palmyra Masonic Lodge in Dunn and the Dunn Shrine Club.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Hood Memorial Christian Church with Rev. Jason Williams and Rev. Wiley C. West, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Morry is survived by his wife, Jonnie Threadgill Denning; daughters, Tara D. Pleasant and husband Jason of Raleigh, Megan D. West and husband Terry of Dunn, and grandchildren, Zachary Denning, Gabby West, Braydon West, Wyatt Pleasant and McKenzie West.

The family will receive friends 6 -8 p.m. Thursday at the Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn and other times at the home.
