Mrs. Effie J. Smith
October 26, 1916 - July 27, 2010Mrs. Effie J. Smith, 93, of Erwin died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at her residence after an extended illness.
The Wayne County native was a daughter of the late Ben Franklin and Winnie Dean Jones, and widow of Henry James Smith. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth R. Wallace. Mrs. Smith was a retired Production Canner with H.P. Cannon Food Service.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Pleasant Grove PFWB Church with Rev. Ronnie Hayes and Rev. Jerome Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Surviving are daughters: Edna S. Beasley of Erwin, Marie S. Parson and husband David of Dunn, sons: Carl Smith and wife Elaine, James Smith and wife Phebie, all of Erwin, a sister: Lucille Smith of Dunn, grandchildren: Billy Wallace, Jeffery Smith, James Smith, Jr., Anthony Smith, Julie Hamilton, Ricky Parson, Michael Smith, and Shawn Smith, seventeen great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home of Dunn.
