Mr. John D. “J.D.” Jackson, 86, of Dunn died Sunday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital.
The Sampson County native was a son of the late Everett and Mamie Carol Norris Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a retired US Mail Carrier, a member of Mingo Baptist Church and a US Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Jackson was predeceased by his brothers, Elderidge “Dick” Jackson, Melvin Jackson, and Tom Jackson, a sister, Elma Barfield, and a great grandson, Lucas Jackson.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday at Mingo Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Strickland and Rev. Earl Davis Farthing officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Sara Barefoot Jackson, a son, John D. “Danny” Jackson, Jr. and wife Joyce of Dunn, a daughter, Debra J. Harris and husband James of Wilson, grandchildren, Mandy Harris, Jeremy Harris, Greg Jackson, and Tracy Bass, and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.
