After high school Carey attended Pembroke State University, now UNC-P, before enlisting in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. After his discharge in 1973, he returned home to re-enter funeral service. He is a graduate of the first class at Fayetteville Technical Institutes School of Funeral Service. Carey has been in funeral service for over 35 years. He is married to the former Rosa Britt, a teacher in the local school system. They have two sons; Brian, a computer and security specialist in Colorado, and Allen, a senior at UNCP majoring in public relations. Cary is active in the community where he is a member and past president of the Dunn Lion's Club, a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion Dunn Post #59, Palmyra Lodge #147, AF&AM Masonic Lodge, a York Rite Mason, Sudan Shriners, Sudan Flag Unit, and an active member and past president of Dunn Shrine Club. Carey is a fully licensed insurance agent, and can help with your pre-financed funeral planning needs as well as your complete insurance and annuity needs. |
Carey is a lifelong resident of Dunn. A graduate of Dunn High School, where he was the team manager for the Dunn Hi Greenwaves Football Squad, and is a member of DHS Friends, the alumni association.
